The Portofino Utility was developed in the 1980s, when Giorgio Mussini decided to reimagine the elegant pleasure boats that sailed the Gulf of Tigullio in the 1930s.
He pictured a safe, family-friendly boat where children could play happily and where cruising would be enjoyable for all, even in choppy seas.
That vision led to the creation of the first Utility, the forerunner of all subsequent models: a robust and harmonious wooden boat combining practicality and beauty, simplicity and prestige.
